On September 3rd, 2009, China Steel Corporation (CSC) held the domestic pricing meeting for October and November of the fourth quarter of 2009 and announced the across-the-board price increase as shown in the following table. The average markup of CSC’s domestic steel price per metric ton is about NT$1,720. The price markup aims to narrow down the gap between the domestic and global steel markets where prices continue a strong rally as the global economy has bottomed out.
CSC lifts all steel prices by 8.61% to strengthen customers’ global competitiveness. Furthermore, in view of the recent catastrophic typhoon and flooding damages, the markup of steel plates is restrained to increase only 4.4% to help rebuild the local constructions and bridges.
